Why I am still a Christian in this Era

Hello,

Hi,

How are you doing?

Welcome to the faith column of this and that with DrAnimwaa.

Here I will share about my faith, my quite time, my testimonies and motivations.

I have been through a lot not to believe in God. I have come through so much not to think there is a super power supporting me. So yes, I am a Christian and I am proud of my faith.

I may not believe in some aspects of the Christian religion but I believe in God and in my faith.

Let me share a testimony here,

When I was around the ages of 5 or 6 years old, my family and I used to live in a compound house in Alajo a suburb of Accra, Ghana.

For those who don’t know what a compound house is, I will explain. A compound house is a house where there are several home units where different families live in, on one big compound. The housing complex could be gated or not. The home units are usually closed together and tenants may share one washroom and many amenities. In Canada, it is similar to apartments and townhouses condominium and I think Nigerians call it, “face me, I face you”.

We had one washroom in the compound for about 6 families to share and this was outside our unit and so one had to go out of our unit to use it. If I remember correctly, I was asleep in the living room and my mum told me to go and pee then go to bed. I woke up and walked out of our unit and kept walking but not to the washroom.

I walked about a kilometer and a half away from our compound, sat behind someone’s house and slept. I don’t remember how I long I sat there for but I think I was there for a while because my parents started looking for me. Just to add, the place I sat was secluded and scary and anything could have happened to me.

Then I was woken up by two men, they were police officers who had closed from work and found me. I knew these police officers, one of them was married to my mum’s friend. They had no idea they knew me when they woke me up, as police officers they had seen a child sleeping in a secluded place and wanted to help. When I woke up, they realized I was the one and they took me home.

When we got home, my mother was crying and my dad was worried. They were outside with some of the tenants looking for me with all hope lost.

Anything could have happened to me that day, I could have been kidnapped or could have died.

I am so grateful to God for that day.

This and more of the miracles that have happened in my life have made me hold on to my faith.

I believe it was not my time to die and God protected me. Sometimes, I go through things and it makes me want to wonder or doubt my faith because, I am human, but I get over it with this quiet time I did in 2017.

Also, I overcome that thought by looking back on all that God has done for me. I serve a God with a resume/CV, because he has done it before, he can do it again.

And until next time, know that

You are enough, you are worthy!

Learn to Live life in the present

And know that nothing last forever so everything will be fine!

Take care of YOU, YOU have all you got!
